About the Hub Theatre
The Hub theatre, at our Haywards Heath campus, mirrors a professional working theatre environment. Part of a recent £30million campus redevelopment, it uses the latest industry-standard technology to provide students with an outstanding theatre space in which to perform.
Our Mission
To re-invent theatre, dance and music in Mid Sussex, making it more inclusive, accessible and relevant for everyone. We want to enhance people’s life experiences through drama, dance, music and storytelling, and to encourage emerging theatre companies and performers to share their work with new audiences as well as renowned companies and artists.
Our Aims
The Hub’s main aim is to inspire. The Hub’s artistic team believes that theatre, dance and music contribute to the broad education to which every child has a right.
Our Patron
The Hub Theatre is delighted to introduce actor Lesley Manville as its new patron.
Our educational aims are
- To create awareness in young people of the performing arts as a powerful medium for creative expression and cultural development by targeting schools in Mid Sussex and surrounding areas.
- To increase our understanding of young people in their different stages of emotional and intellectual development through school visits, workshops with children in all key stages.
- To seek advice and positive criticism from teachers and other specialists at various stages of production, through regular dialogue and consultation.
- To maintain an informed view of developments and changes in Education.
- To produce support materials for schools, which are relevant to the productions and are use to teachers for follow-up work by the commissioning of education packs.
- When appropriate, to develop theme and/or skills-related workshops to schools in addition to performances; and to monitor and evaluate these closely.
- To maintain and develop a system of monitoring and evaluation of every performance seen by school parties in the theatre.
